It Takes Courage Book – Media & Sales

Posted

It Takes Courage to leave your homeland, your culture, your family, and all that is familiar to you.
It Takes Courage to speak English, to make new friends, to use public transport, to guide your children through this new way of living.
Some days It Takes Courage just to get out of bed.

This Grampians CoRE initiative set out to empower women from refugee, immigrant & Aboriginal backgrounds to share lived experiences through food & culture.

Since August 2017, women from fourteen different cultural backgrounds have been gathering each week to share food and cultures, build support and friendship networks, gain knowledge and awareness in areas such as respectful relationships and gender equality, and develop a wide range of skills to produce a book launched on 23 June. Thank you to all who attended the launch and made it a wonderful celebration!

The It Takes Courage book features recipes from homelands and family traditions, creative writing, food and portrait photography, art and key messaging around the Prevention of Violence Against Women.
