There is a growing evidence base that demonstrates the need for primary prevention strategies that challenge traditional notions of masculinity which keep gender inequalities alive.
The WHG Men’s Initiative aims to build the capacity of men in rural communities to identify and call out gender inequality, sexism and discrimination. Based on the Working Together With Men model developed by Shelley Hewson-Munro at RMIT University, five to ten men will be recruited from different organisations and locations in the Grampians region to call out gender inequality.
They will also be supported to design and deliver initiatives that challenge harmful masculine stereotypes, guided by the Change the Story Essential Action Areas.
