First Nations Women’s Yarning Garden Project

The First Nations Women’s Yarning Garden project is about creating a safe space for First Nations women to come together on Wadawurrung land, connect with each other and Country, share and learn new skills, all while creating a bush garden from scratch.

Working alongside Food Is Free Inc, WHG’s First Nations Health Promotion Officer is engaging women from Ballarat’s women’s First Nations community in gardening and health related projects. The prime focus is on embracing all the benefits that come from connecting with others to grow your own food, including improvements in health, wellbeing and food security. This is a garden that will empower the women who create it to share their learnings with the broader community.

The Yarning Garden is in the Barkly Square community precinct in Ballarat East.
