Bystander Training

WHG provides innovative training for CoRE members. Respecting that sporting clubs operate a little differently to a typical workplace, we have adapted our training packages to better fit and speak to a sports audience, as well as different sub-cultures within a club. This training is FREE. Sporting clubs can access:

Bystander Training: Tips & Techniques (1.5hr) – suitable for Committee members and coaches – this session introduces the issue of VAW and gives participants tips and techniques for how to be an active bystander challenging, sexism, discrimination and harassment. This interactive session will cover – What it means to be an active bystander; Why it is important; and tips on how to be an active bystander.

Bystander Conversations (1hr) – Ideal for a senior playing group within a club – this training session is conversational and solutions focused. In a panel style set-up with club leadership and PVAW expert representation – the aim is to give players the skills, tools and confidence to call out disrespect by troubleshooting scenarios that may be witnessed in a club context.

Movement-Based Bystander Training (1.5hr) – in collaboration with the National Rugby League and Melbourne Storm, WHG are piloting a unique style of training delivery to greater engage male players on the issue of gender-based violence.
