Yarning Garden

First Nations Women’s Yarning Garden Project

The First Nations Women’s Yarning Garden project aims to create a safe space for First Nations women to come together on Wadawurrung land, connect with each other and Country, and yarn.

The project was initiated in 2023 by WHG and initially run as a collaboration with Food Is Free Inc. Management has since rightfully passed fully into the hands of the First Nations women who have nurtured the garden, evolved the concept, and held space for each other and the community to grow and learn.

It was an honour to plant the seed for the Yarning Garden, and seeing it thrive is an ongoing joy.
